FAQs
often these might not be frequently asked questions because
you are just starting out, but to start with may be a result
of you pulling the sales process out of your head and onto
paper.
By doing this you will pose yourself relevant questions to
the sales process and (hopefully!) the answers that you would
need to give to your customers. These can be a good basis
for frequently asked questions in the absence of any trading
or product history.
This is not simply an exercise in building large numbers
of pages however, as an FAQ section will do a couple of things
for your site.
1) Showing your knowledge of a product or process through
FAQs will help to build confidence in your site (as well as
making the site more professional by adding extra pages and
giving a feeling of a more established company.
2) They will help to avoid time wasters - you can often
point to the FAQ next to any e-mail or contact us pages or
response forms and ask that customers visit these with any
questions before coming to you.
One of our early customers was a shoe company who managed
to wipe out 90% of their unnecessary e-mails by having the
FAQs clearly visible from their contact page - read these
first was the comment on the page. This significantly cut
out time wasters and improved customer conversion rates.
