Useful page types for a site.
Response form - Much more important than just having
an e-mail address link, a response form allows you to get
an immediate response from your visitor. In general, we find
that there are as many response forms sent to us as we receive
phone calls.
With an e-mail link on your web site you will cause their
e-mail client to load. This does two things. Firstly, it breaks
their interest with your site - an e-mail client loading is
an interruption to the process of viewing your page, as it
actually puts an obstacle in the way of seeing your page.
Secondly, the person then has to compose an e-mail message.
This relies on them not being too busy to do so, having all
the relevant information to hand and not then getting distracted
in the process or losing interest.
What is so good about a response form then?
It stops customers losing contact with your site - they can
fill in their information directly online on the web page
without an e-mail client loading
You can ask them relevant questions to get the information
that you require
You can in many cases 'demand' certain information is given
- make it mandatory in order for them to respond - this can
be useful for collecting a couple of methods of contact such
as phone, e-mail and other information If you ask correct
questions, presented so that you have enough to quote from
immediately you can reply immediately. You would be surprised
at how many forms actually go unanswered by companies - getting
your reply in quickly can land you the job.
It allows you to KEEP the customer on your site or send them
to another useful site afterwards by having a thank you page
that the form auto diverts to after submitting.
It allows you to try to illicit further and more immediate
response by leading them to a special offer page or saying
why not call us if you have an urgent need.
