Forms
Forms allow you to collect responses directly off your
web site. Producing a form means you can run surveys and
gain feedback or leads directly from your site.
Visitors can respond straight from the web page without
having to use their e-mail client. Text field.
|
Creates
a text form field in the current cursor position.
What are these for?
These allow you to have an input area on a web page for your site
users to respond to you. A text field allows inputting of data
such as name, address etc. or any other question you require.
You need to label next to the text field with the question you
want.
In order to use this, you must firstly insert a form (click
here for more). See also table
editing, to allow you to make form entries neater in columns.
TIP: Include a field called email (in the name area below)
as one of your questions, asking the person filling in the form
to enter their e-mail address. When you receive the form, you
will be able to simply 'reply' to the incoming form e-mail as
you would if they had used their e-mail client from their computer,
as this field is used as the 'from' address.
In addition, the visitor filling in the form will also get a
copy of the form sent to them.
TIP: To make lots of entry fields quickly, such as when
you want name, address etc., add one field and then click on it,
so it is selected. Then copy it (to do this, hold the [ctrl] button
and tap the [c] button) and paste it where you want the new field
to be (to do this, hold the [ctrl] button and tap the [v] button).
Continue pasting until you have enough entry boxes, then simply
right click over the form items to edit it and change the names.

Text field properties to set/modify:
Name: name of the question.
This will be the description that you receive of the question
that they have answered, e.g. 'name'. It does not
show on the form, just in the answer.
Value: initial value of the element. Leave
this blank - the form user will fill it in. If you add something
here, it will be show within the form and the user will
need to delete it.
Type: type of the text field (text/password).
Make this text.
Maximum characters: Maximum number of characters
available to type in the element. Leave this blank unless
you wish to restrict this.
Characters width: width of the text element
in characters. In practice normally set this at around 25.
This is the character width that the element will show on
the screen.
Required: Check "Required" if you
want the field to be validated -the user will not be able
to submit the form unless it is filled in. NB don't have
spaces in the form name or the form will not validate. Do
not call any form element 'name' or it wont work properly!
