'How to...'
To allow you a simple management system for password protection
of sensitive areas of your web site, please see the instructions
below.
|
You can now use the system to password protect pages or areas of
your site.
This is done in the following way:
1) You must first decide upon a directory name within the
system. This is
set on the administration home page under 'members area'.
Note: The name you choose is used for the directory name where
the pages
will be published i.e.
www.yourdomainname/yourpasswordeddirectory/pagefilename.html
2) When you create a page or edit a page, under 'page properties'
you can decide whether it is password protected or not. If it is,
then it will be placed within the directory name that you decided
upon under the administration home page.
Tip : Page properties is reached from the page editor (just
to the right of the meta tags) or on the pages list by clicking
on any of the details for a page other than the page file name or
the edit button.
3) Once you have created a page you must publish it and a
directory will also be created.
4) You must now go to the hosting control panel (the other
control panel which is used for setting your e-mail and main hosting
details). Within your hosting control panel there is a heading 'web'
at the top, then a 'security' heading in the middle. Once you are
there you select the directory you wish to be password protected
(which is the one you decided upon in the administration home page
under the members area) and you can then set up passwords and user
names associated with that directory.
5) NB It is important that you have a user name and password
set up for admin which needs to be entered in the administration
home page under the members area. This will be private to yourself
and is so that the system can publish pages into a password protected
directory.
